Children can show up a few minutes early and hang out in the fellowship hall as adults prepare the meal. We go upstairs promptly at 5:30, the pastor leads, with at least one other adult helper. He leads some singing with ukulele, talks with the kids through catechism questions from the New City Catechism, facilitates physical competitions and feats of strength, oversees games, prays over them, and then sends them back downstairs to eat together at 6:15. Children don't have to stay to eat, but we are happy to feed them and let them play a little bit more.
